Toronto, Canada – In a groundbreaking shift in the global education landscape, the Study in Africa initiative, powered by Findadmission.com, for the first time participate in an international education exhibition in Canada with a bold new mission: to recruit students from the Western world to study in Africa.

This marks the first time in history that African institutions, under a unified banner, will exhibit in Canada not to send students abroad, but to invite Canadian and international students to Africa for academic experiences, cultural exchange, and world-class learning opportunities. The event signals a turning point in global education narratives — and one that is long overdue.

At the helm of this movement is Folabi Obembe, CEO of Findadmission, who for nearly two decades has helped African students access educational opportunities in the West. Today, his organization is reversing the narrative. “We’ve reached a point where Africa no longer has to play the passive role in global education. We can — and must — sell our own story,” said Obembe.

He challenges Africans in the diaspora to reflect deeply on what Africa has already given them: an education foundation they received without student loans, unlike many of their peers in the West. “We must stop parroting the idea that African education is inferior. If our graduates are excelling in Western universities and workplaces, it means the education they received back home was good enough — in fact, solid,” Obembe stated.

He argues that criticism of African education is often rooted not in facts but in a narrative driven by global education marketers. “The West has to downplay the quality of African education — how else can they sell theirs to us? But education is about foundation — and ours is proving itself every day through the success of African graduates worldwide.”

With this Canadian exhibition, Study in Africa is not just recruiting students — it is reshaping perceptions. Students will now have the chance to study in top African institutions, participate in summer programs, exchange initiatives, and immerse themselves in rich cultural contexts that are educational, transformative, and increasingly relevant in a globalized world.

This historic milestone is also a rallying cry. “It’s time we embrace our own education systems and sell them to the rest of the world with pride,” says Obembe. “Africa is not just a source of students — we are a destination.”
